About

Hi, my name is Andrea Cima Serniotti and I’m an Italian creative web designer and XHTML/CSS coder. I love creating simple, unique, stylish and easy-to-use websites and what most counts for me is to work with people who are passionate about what they do.

For further details on my experience keep reading, have a look at my resume (PDF, 513KB), take a peek at my projects or drop me a line!

Education and first job

First-class graduated in Communication in the Information Society with a degree thesis on gridding web design which has been awarded as “Best Thesis 2006/2007“, I worked for more than two years on the City of Turin’s website in Italy as a Junior Web Designer.

Designing and developing usable, accessible and good looking websites has soon become my passion.

I was working and studying at the same time and, as soon as I graduated in November 2007, I thought that a working experience abroad would have been a good idea to better my English and improve my skills. That’s why I start sending abroad my CV in almost every English country, hoping to find a job!

The Irish experience

After a couple of research weeks, I eventually found a nice job in Dublin, Ireland, for a small up-and-coming web agency called Visrez. They used to work a lot with hotels, selling their own booking engine and I learned a lot with them becoming Senior Web Designer soon.

After almost one year spent there I felt a bit stuck and I thought it was time to move on. Two weeks time and I had already signed my new contract with one of the finest and biggest Irish web companies, Arekibo Communications.

Arekibo provides design, development and online marketing services for both private and public organizations. Entered as Senior Web Designer, in six months time I became Front-end Lead, leading some important projects for clients such as Eircom, ESB and Revenue Office Ireland. I was responsible for all the front-end part of our websites, including XHTML, CSS, Accessibility, Usability, and I also worked on a way to improve the company workflow.

At the end of November 2009, after two great years spent in the Leprechauns land, I decided to leave Ireland. That’s been a very tough choice. In fact, my career in Arekibo was going great and living in Dublin is just awesome! The fact is that I wanted to go over to New Zealand and then move to Australia, looking for a new experience, for some huge waves and definitely for some shiny sun. Thus, I packed my stuff and jumped on a flight.

Living and working in Melbourne VIC

After a month and a half spent travelling around New Zealand with a sparkling camper van, I eventually settled down in Melbourne.

After one week I already had a room in Southbank and a job in one of the most prominent web agencies in Melbourne, Get Started. The plan is to spend around 4 months here and head back to Italy towards the mid of June!

While here, I will keep up doing some freelance jobs, just to keep me busy! So, if you’re interested in hiring me please do not hesitate to get in touch!
