Eircom
Overview
Eircom is the principal provider of fixed-line telecommunications services in Ireland with approximately 2.6 million fixed-line telephone access channels in service. The mobile division, Meteor, is the third largest mobile operator in Ireland, with approximately 983,000 mobile subscribers as at June 30, 2008.
I’ve built different sets of templates for Eircom, mostly for the business mobile area. Mobile phones, coverage & roaming, price plans and mobile email are just some of the screens I’ve worked on. Our Creative Director worked on the design while I implemented the XHTML and CSS.
I just had to work on the main content area and then send the static templates over to the Eircom team. They would have implemented them in their own system. This means that we didn’t design or code the header, main navigation, left hand navigation and footer, but just the main content area.
In this project, I worked side by side with a slick Spanish developer who developed quite complex Ajax functionality for filtering and comparing mobile phones, jQuery scripts to make expandable boxes, create tooltips on hover and produce tab systems to better the user experience.
