Revenue Office Ireland

Overview

The Office of the Revenue Commissioners is the primary state body responsible for the assessment and collection of taxes and duties in the Republic of Ireland. It includes the Customs Division responsible for controlling imports on behalf of the EU.

This is one of the biggest projects I’ve ever worked on in my career. I came into this project when it was already started. The design was signed-off and the implementation was half done. This was originally a 5000 static pages site and the client decided to keep it static and just reduce the number of pages while reviewing the information architecture.

I helped the guys in Arekibo to bring the site forward, giving them some useful suggestions to improve the workflow and the quality of the site itself. I also created a new CSS for both the high contrast and print versions. As it is a public site it has to be accessible by law (at least AA compliant). We also ran some Accessibility and Usability tests with CFIT to ensure the high quality of the product and a great user experience.
